The Elliot House

There was a period where every beautifully renovated home seemed determined to prove how little personality it had. White walls. White oak. Beige boucle. Repeat. The Elliot House is not that. Set deep within Mandeville Canyon, this reimagined mid-century home embraces something that’s become surprisingly rare in design: Character. Color. A point of view. It feels like a home created by people who actually wanted to live there. Which, as it turns out, makes all the difference.

Inside

The bones are unmistakably mid-century: strong lines, great light, easy flow, and large windows that pull the canyon landscape in. But what makes the house memorable is everything layered on top. Wallpaper where most people would have played it safe. Vintage-inspired lighting. Rich color palettes. Rooms that feel collected. There’s a confidence to the design that we really appreciate. The kitchen is our happy place: blue cabinetry, dark countertops, warm metal accents. And throughout the house, you get the sense that someone made personal decisions here. (Good ones.)

Outside

Mandeville Canyon has always attracted a certain kind of Angeleno: Those who prioritize space, trees, and birds over all else. This property leans fully into that lifestyle. Expansive decks overlook the landscape. Mature greenery softens the view. Firepit evenings feel inevitable. Morning coffee outdoors feels mandatory. The lot itself is generous by Los Angeles standards, but more importantly, it feels private and calming.

The O' Factor

What we loved most about this house is that it feels emotionally warm. Like a happy, pastel dream. Design-forward homes often fall into one of two categories: beautiful but untouchable, or comfortable but forgettable. The Elliot House somehow avoids both. It’s at-once designed, stylish, and packed with personality. For people feeling a little fatigued by the endless parade of perfectly neutral renovations, this house feels like a welcome change.
