O'Connor Estates - Guide to Brentwood

O'Connor Estates - Guide to Brentwood

  • O'Connor Estates

Brentwood is one of the most charming and picturesque cities in California, and it’s a place that we are fortunate to call home. It has a cozy neighborhood feel with great public school, easy access to the freeway, tons of natural beauty, and some of the most incredible homes in the world. We’re here to help you uncover the area’s hidden gems and show you our favorite spots for shopping, dining, and enjoying all that this gorgeous part of the world has to offer.

Where to shop:

Spending a relaxing afternoon shopping at the Brentwood Country mart is a must. It’s a charming 1950s old-school country mart filled with mom and pop shops, high-end boutiques, an indoor food court, and plenty of places to satisfy your sweet tooth, including Sweet Rose Creamery - one of our favorite ice cream spots! The Country Mart is also home to amazing boutiques including beloved clothing stores Jenni Kayne and Doen, and Poppy, our go-to for adorable baby gifts. Our ideal Sunday evening is meeting friends at the country mart, getting a rotisserie chicken and letting the kids run wild since it’s pretty quiet (and kid-friendly!) on a Sunday evening.

Where to eat:

Brentwood may not be the obvious choice as a culinary destination in Los Angeles (a city with over 10,000 restaurants!) but the food here is top notch with classic neighborhood staples. Farmshop is a delicious and quaint restaurant with artisanal vibes and is our go-to for a quick healthy lunch - we are obsessed with their frittata! For a power lunch or to impress out of town guests with a steak dinner, Baltaire is a must. The space is stunning and we love taking in the breezy views on their patio. If you are looking for intimate moody vibes and fresh mouthwatering pastas, Toscana is the ultimate cozy neighborhood gem. Pizzana, Teleferic, and Jon and Vinny’s are newer to the Brentwood food scene but are all worth a visit.

Where to relax:

Being immersed in nature is one of our favorite ways to relax and unwind after a stressful week. Brentwood is surrounded by natural beauty with gorgeous scenery and lots of hiking trails. We love hiking the Westridge trail - it’s a 7.5 mile round trip hike with beautiful views and a great way to work up a sweat and take in your dose of nature. As dog lovers and owners, we love being able to have our little pup walk off-leash.

Where to scope out gorgeous architecture:

Brentwood is definitely one of our top places in L.A. to scope out incredible architecture and fantasize about our dream homes! We love the area of Crestwood Hills, which has a really unique backstory. The area was originally cultivated as a progressive, architecturally-controlled neighborhood in 1946 by Ray Siegel, Jules Salkin, Gene Komer, and Leonard Krupnick who all were tired of cookie-cutter stucco homes and wanted to create stylish homes for their families. Curbed did a story a few years ago detailing the history behind this area and how it came to be, which is quite fascinating. Crestwood Hills now features stunning homes by renowned Mid-Century architects including A. Quincy Jones, Whitney R. Smith, Richard Neutra, and Craig Ellwood. We could spend all day looking at these gorgeous, architecturally-inspiring homes!
