Welcome to Alphabets

Picturesque charm abounds in this cheerful and gorgeous Pacific Palisades enclave

Pacific Palisades may now enjoy worldwide acclaim for its majestic views of natural splendors and wonderful small-town vibe, but part of the affluent district on LA’s Westside officially got its start in 1921 in the Alphabets. A neighborhood distinguished by its sequentially lettered streets and stunning architecture.

Today, the former Methodist missionary community is one of the most coveted places to call home in the country. Here, vibrant, narrow, and highly walkable streets are filled with kids playing and dogs romping. Residents are just a short jaunt away from Pacific Palisades’ crown jewel of a dining, shopping, and entertainment village. There you can sip on a bean-to-cup coffee, nibble on a vegan chocolate raspberry cake, savor an artisan cocktail, and watch an arthouse film, all before browsing fabulous, one-of-a-kind boutiques and brand-name shops.

Whether you work in the entertainment industry, operate remotely from your home office, or have recently retired, you’re bound to be delighted by Alphabets’ quaint, tight-knit feel and exquisite architecture. The residents of this ultra-desirable area enjoy close friendships with their neighbors and can often be found at one of the Village’s healthy eateries, strolling on the beach, or hiking in the magnificent Santa Monica mountains.

Dining, Shopping & Entertainment

As one of Los Angeles’ trendiest and most elegant districts, Pacific Palisades abounds with fantastic dining, shopping, and entertainment. A slew of restaurants nearby offer everything from fresh, organic fare to unique cuisine, while its host of shops varies from haute couture to cool, surfer chic.

Angelini Ristorante & Bar is the optimal spot to relish a delicious meal on a balmy SoCol night. Its sleek dining room and beautiful patio are the perfect backdrops to dine on fare. From risotto bursting with succulent bites of lobster, clams, and mussels to mascarpone with fresh berries and red wine sauce, this lovely, buzzy spot lives up to its legendary status.

Unforgettable Armenian and Mediterranean dishes are served with style and panache at the Palisades’ Armav. Santa Barbara sea bass with cauliflower mousseline, Fatoosh salad with pomegranate and mint, and Burma baklava with rose-infused syrup and almond galette are just three of the masterful creations on Armav’s delicious menu.

The gold standard in sushi, Sushi Sasabune, thrills its crowds with blue crab hand rolls, baked butterfish, peppered salmon, and more. It has three locations near Alphabets (in Brentwood, Beverly Hills, and Pacific Palisades proper).

SoCal is famous for its marvelous Mexican cuisine, and for residents of the Alphabets, Prima Cantina is the place to indulge in it. The bright, happy, and lively spot offers a range of traditional bites, like housemade guacamole, shrimp ceviche, grilled Pescado tacos, and steak and zucchini fajitas.

Things to Do

Pacific Palisades’ perennial sunshine urges residents of the Alphabets into the great outdoors, whether it’s for a trip to the beach or to hike the iconic Paseo Miramar trail.

This extraordinary weather lends itself well to harvesting produce and manufacturing artisan goods, both of which are celebrated at the Palisades Sundays’ farmers’ market. The stalls at this neighborly event overflow with gems. Baked goods, unusual spices, organic fruits and vegetables, fresh meat, and seafood — this place has it all, including a pet rescue area that’s quite tempting.

This small-town atmosphere is both underscored and amplified every year during Pacific Palisades’ hotly anticipated Fourth of July parade. Now in its 73rd year, it starts at Bowdoin Street, winds through Sunset Boulevard, and concludes at Alma Real Drive. Translation? Nonstop fun and camaraderie.

Within all this, you’ll find the ever-glorious Palisades Village, an outdoor jewel with high-end boutiques, a movie theater, world-class eateries, coffee houses, bars, a grain-free bakery, and plenty of sun-splashed spots to take a seat with an iced oat milk latte in hand and people watch.
